is a therapy in which a patient breathes air or varying amounts of oxygen while inside a pressurized chamber, the pressure being anything above 1 atmosphere.
Oxygen is usually absorbed into circulation and transported throughout the body by only red blood cells. Under an increased pressure (aka being inside a hyperbaric chamber), oxygen will dissolve and saturate the blood plasma and travel throughout the body, independent of red blood cells. This allows more oxygen to be transported to our tissues and cells and allows for improved healing.
You will lie or sit inside the chamber. Depending on the treatment you will either breathe room air or use an oxygen mask while inside the chamber. Each session last 60-90 minutes.
